JACK FRANCIS and Wayne “Peg” Gill had outstanding results as unbeaten St George edged out Lodge Road A 21-19 Thursday in the run up to the semi-finals of the John Walcott Memorial Team Draughts Tournament.

Francis, just back from competing commendably in a World qualifier, defeated Nathaniel “Thani” Grosvenor 2-0 and Henderson Marshall 1-0 to remain the chief provider of points for St George in a match at Lodge Road, Christ Church.

But Gill defended his home turf at Lodge Road and bounced back from poor results against Proper Pushers to trounce Hugh “Evie” Kellman 2-0 and Trevor “Gazook” Howell 1-0.

The match was exciting and could have gone either way. (HH)
