A GREEN LIGHT for the controversial Cahill waste to energy project will come only after a number of checks and balances are completed, Minister of the Environment Dr Denis Lowe has promised.
He made that quite clear yesterday, issuing an official statement after a copy of a letter, reportedly sent by Cahill’s CEO Claire Cowan, claimed a recent statement by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart had rattled probable investors.
Copies of the letter were making their way across social media platforms yesterday, with Cowan claiming ministers in Barbados were giving the Guernsey-based company the cold shoulder.
But Lowe is making it clear the plant’s approval to be in Barbados is not yet a done deal, even though, as Cowan noted in her letter, an MOU had been signed by the two parties. (BA)
