BARBADOS’ 2015 DERBY WINNER Poetic Licence rounded off a dismal tour of Trinidad and Tobago with a second unplaced effort in the 85th running of the Trinidad Derby at Santo Rosa race track in Arima on Thursday.

The Bills Inc.-owned filly, which is trained by Victor Cheesesman, finished one from last in a field reduced to 12 runners with the late withdrawal of Royal Pioneer at the start.

Drawn 13 in the 2000 metres grade I NGC CNG Trinidad Derby Stakes worth TT $500 000 (BDS$154 647) Poetic Licence, the lone Barbadian entry, was sent in to the lead by regular jockey Rickey Walcott.

The pair carved fractions of 23.4 for the quarter and reached the half mile in 49 flat but just before six furlongs were completed in 1:14.3, she could be seen retreating.
