ONE-DOOR ESTABLISHMENTS will not necessarily become extinct under the amended Shops Act.
Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer made that clear when she spoke to members of the St George South branch of the Democratic Labour Party on Sunday at a branch meeting at St Luke’s Anglican Church hall.
She was responding to a query from a member about a particular business place in The City. He said Government had the responsibility of dealing with the owner and all others with similar operations.
“Some facilities are one-door facilities, and it’s difficult to change them from being one-door facilities because that’s just how [they are]. But even some of the malls, let’s say you go into Sheraton Mall, those stores in there are one-door facilities …
