Lewis riding into retirement

AFTER GIVING 28 years of service to the Barbados Cricket Association, Mitchison “Dick” Lewis, along with Aville Carrington, who served for 29, were treated to a retirement function in the President’s Suite at Kensington Oval on Thursday night.

Lewis, who performed the duties of messenger, suffered a pre-retirement misfortune a few weeks ago when he was robbed at gunpoint of his motorcycle a few yards away from his home.

Thus, not even the glowing tributes which were paid to Lewis by his friends could elicit the joy which he displayed when he received a gift of a toy motorcycle, which suggested what he would be getting as a retirement present from his former employers. (KB)
