‘Fish bounty’ follows seaweed

WHILE MANY Barbadians consider the Sargassum seaweed that blanketed some beaches on the island a disaster, vendors at the Bridgetown fish market are calling it a blessing.

Fish vendor of 15 years, Donna Phillips, said the Sargassum was the reason they received a bounty of fish yesterday.

“Sargassum bringing plenty fish. A lot o’ amber fish, a lot o’ cavalli, a lot o’ dolphin, a lot o’ marlin, a lot o’ billfish. So much fish in the market we  en know what to do with them,” Phillips said.

Donna said the fish glut meant that prices were good, and she encouraged all Barbadians to come and benefit from the prices.
