The bleak, broken beak of Pelican Village is to be restored and its vendors are eagerly looking forward to the tourist hub becoming what it was before.
For many tourists, the village was seen as a place with a potpourri of local crafts and foods to tantalise taste buds.
However, many stores have now shut shop because of the recession, one vendor explained.
The community is now a skeleton of what it once resembled at its zenith, having an appearance of a ghost town.
There are now plans by the Barbados Investment & Development Corperation (BIDC) to turn things around at Pelican Village and create the much needed buzz and activity there.
