Hauler may shut shop

WASTE HAULERS in Barbados are dropping like flies.

One hauler said his business was about to fold as his major clients were disappearing while another big name in the business has sold his fleet of trucks and skips.

Michael Forde, owner of Forde’s Freighting and Rental Services, expects his business to fold. The waste hauler said since Government introduced the controversial tipping fee three months ago, he lost six of the eight contracts that sustained his business.

With two contracts left and thousands of dollars in revenue drying up, Forde said he had to either desperately search for new contracts or “shut shop and look for an alternative source of income”.
