BARBADOS Bearings’ Progressive will defend their Goddard Enterprises Limited senior volleyball men’s title on Monday night.

But there will be no Chargers or the most successful men’s team, Deacons, after those two were knocked out on Wednesday night at the Wildey Gymnasium. Progressive came from two sets down and game and match point in the deciding fifth set to clip Deacons 17-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 16-14.

League champions Chargers did not take part in the 2014 knockouts and the Juniors ensured that they miss out again by thwarting the former kings 25-17, 25-23, 16-25, 25-19. In the absence of Barbados middle player Ammuniki Wood, who has departed on a scholarship to the United States, Chargers’ game proved suspect against the might of Andriy Stapleton and Ahkeem Mayers.
