After residents in Fairy Valley and surrounding areas wrote to the Transport Authority complaining about 3D ZRs not travelling the full distance of the route, THE NATION sent a team disguised as commuters to experience what it was like travelling on the route taxis. Here is our first-hand report.
It was a long two-to-three-mile walk from the gas station in Pilgrim Road to Fairy Valley, Christ Church.
And while stopping to catch my breath at a variety shop along the way, I realised how difficult it must be for residents to complete this journey every day.
The sun was unmercifully hot, and I was tired.
But let’s rewind to what happened when I boarded the route taxi in the Constitution River Terminal.
As I was about to step into the van, I asked the commuters if they knew whether or not the van was going to Fairy Valley.
“You have to ask the driver when he gets back ’cause all of dem don’t go up there,” said one commuter. (SB)
