Hurdlers into semis at Worlds (Video)

BARBADIAN HURDLERS Shane Brathwaite and Greggmar Swift have qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s 110 metres event at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China.

Brathwaite won his heat in 13.28 seconds, keeping his composure after a false start, while Swift took fourth spot in his race, advancing with a time of 13.41 seconds.

Also advancing were Jamaicans Hansle Parchment (13.33), Omar McLeod (13.43) and Andrew Riley (13.43).

However, Trinidad and Tobago’s Mikel Thomas was disqualified after crashing into one of the barriers, while Ronald Forbes of the Cayman Islands (13.78) and USVI’s Eddie Lovett (13.65) did not make the cut.

The semi-finals are set for Thursday morning. (SAT)
