THE FUTURE of dance in Barbados was on display as the Barbados Dance Project (BDP) held a showcase at the Frank Collymore Hall recently.

It was an opportunity for upcoming artistes to convey messages in a rhythmic way through the use of their bodies after attending summer workshop facilitated by Jamal Rasham Callender, ably assisted by professional dancers invited from overseas to be part of the project.

The dancers were too many to mention but included Joy Adiemian, Shea Best, Jelani Brice, Amaris Clarke, Jai Clarke, Megan Edwards, Lisa King, Tarla Morris, Samuel Routley, Jared Simmons, Guy Smith and Courtenay Thorne. They did not disappoint based on the response of the appreciative audience and the expectation of BDP founder Callender .

“We at BPT wanted to focus this year, not just on the physicality of dance, but on the all-encompassing dedication and determination that it takes to be a professional dancer.”
