CROP OVER 2015 has ended but Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley is assuring tent managers and bandleaders he will be taking care of the “unfinished business” that was raised during the May 24 to August 3 festival.
Delivering the feature address on Saturday night at the annual Crop Over Awards Ceremony at Hilton Barbados, he said that measures would be implemented to assist the groups in resolving the vexing issues that include the payment of VAT on complimentary tickets and costumes.
Lashley also told them he suggested to the Ministry of Finance that “a conversation” take place about “how we deal with VAT within the six-week period of Crop Over” and he promised to keep them posted on any developments. (GBM)
