THE GIRLS FROM Down Under are still on top of the world. And can’t you tell.
Australia have yet another major netball title, having held off neighbours and long-time rivals New Zealand to win the World Cup 58-55 in an adrenaline-charged title showdown yesterday in front another record crowd.
Playing in front 16 849 screaming fans, the hosts jumped out to a quick 16-7 lead before holding off the Silver Ferns’ late charge to win their third consecutive world title and 11th overall.
It was vengeance unlimited for the Diamonds, who couldn’t hide the euphoria of winning another world title after avenging a loss to New Zealand in the group stages.
