Pan American International Insurance Warrens are just two wins away from their second top-flight basketball title now after the Pine meekly handed over Game 1 of the Co-operators General Insurance Premier League finals in Thursday’s humiliating 78-63 defeat at the Wildey Gym.
The champs were always going to be up against it, with the injured Gill – their leading scorer and playmaker – forced to miss the championship opener while Franklyn served an automatic one-game suspension for being ejected in the previous series.
But no one expected such a tame effort, probably not even Warrens, who stormed out to a fast and furious 23-9 lead before eventually putting away the game by way of a 22-7 third-quarter run.
