A licence to play.

That’s what local football clubs will need in the near future or they won’t be allowed to play in competitions organised by the Barbados Football Association (BFA).

That’s the word from BFA president Randy Harris who didn’t give a set time for the enactment of this new regulation which has been mandated by FIFA, the sport’s governing body.

Speaking to Weekend Sport, Harris didn’t rule out the possibility, though, that the stipulation could be in place by the 2016 season.

“Ideally, that’s what we would like but it is something that we have to sit down and discuss with the clubs so that they will know the criteria and try to put it in place as soon as we could.”

He explained what the licencing means.
