BESIDE the sound of the pressure plate being used to fuse pipes together, the atmosphere on Roebuck Street yesterday afternoon was quiet as the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) began its Mains Replacement Project on the Water and Sanitation Systems.
When the MIDWEEK NATION team arrived on the scene, workmen were fusing the 40-feet pipe together, creating one continuous length down the Roebuck Street stretch.
Geomatics engineer for the project, Ryan Brathwaite, explained that with this particular project they would not be digging the road as they had done in the past causing the inconvenience of dust and other debris in the area.
