BUILDING FIRM Apex Construction says it is keen to work with Government on providing middle-income housing and plans to send a proposal to the Freundel Stuart administration next month.
The manager of Apex, Benjamin Niles, said there was an urgent need to fill a void in the housing market for people who could only afford homes that cost $200 000 and less. He described the situation as serious.
Though he made it clear that the details of the proposal are still being worked out, Niles suggested that land could be resold at cost for the project.
He pointed to the long list of applications to the National Housing Corporation (NHC), suggesting that about 90 per cent of them require cheaper homes than are on the market.
