JOCKEY ANTONIO PERCH, aboard Local Speed, caused a major upset on yesterday’s Season of Emancipation Race Day at the Garrison Savannah.

Perch, riding the 14-1 long shot, silenced the crowd with the Stanton French-owned gelding trained by Boston John in the Season of Emancipation Handicap over 1 570 metres for three-year-olds and older horses rated 95-77.

Local Speed was settled mid-pack as Noble Intent took the field down the backstretch with Cinnamon Jane, In The Pink, Luckyluckyme, Joshua and Local Speed in close attendance.

Positions changed quickly going towards the two-furlong maker as Cinnamon Jane gave way to the rapidly surging Local Speed, Joshua, and Jakesam.
