Sinckler ‘only’ as facilitator

NOT AS NEGOTIATOR,  but as facilitator.

That is the role Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler says he will be playing in today’s meeting between the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) and the Customs and Excise Department.

The 2 p.m. meeting at Government Headquarters will see the interested parties ironing out contentious areas of the arrangement to transition the Customs Department to the BRA.

But head of Unity Workers Union, Caswell Franklyn, who represents some of the customs workers, yesterday declared: “I will not be there.” He claimed the discussions were “being held with the wrong people” and charged “process” was not being followed in this case.
