The Mecca of cricket has become a mansion for mice.
Kensington Oval, the architectural jewel in the crown of cricket venues in the Caribbean, was forced to close its doors twice last week after droppings were discovered, and staff of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) and Kensington Oval Management Inc. (KOMI) given the option of leaving their desks.
Efforts are now under way to have a second wave of industrial cleaning done at the Fontabelle, St Michael facility to rid especially the administrative offices of any clutter, or even discarded food utensils that may have attracted vermin there in the first place.
Kensington Oval is managed by KOMI and houses its offices, as well as the BCA’s.
Chief executive officer of KOMI, Ben Toppin, confirmed to THE NATION that news of droppings being found had been communicated to KOMI, and immediate action taken at the end of last week. (BA)
