SSA squeeze

THE PILE-UP of GARBAGE in several areas across the island is expected to worsen as the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) stops all collections as part of Phase 2 of the industrial action by the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW).

Earlier this week, before the call-out of the SSA workers had been made public, residents from several areas expressed concern about growing mounds of garbage.

Certain areas of The City were showing signs of the lack of collection, with unsightly refuse spilling over garbage cans. Residents in Gills Road said the garbage there was “nuttin’ yet” but would get worse within the next few days. They said the last collection was two days ago, but already it was piling up again.
