Defending champions Nicholls Baking Combermere, powered by half-centuries from Reuben Agard, Amari Goodridge and Che Simmons thrashed St Leonard’s Boys’ by 167 runs yesterday to romp into the semi-finals of the Barbados Cricket Association’s Schools Under-19 Competition.

Agard topscored with 64 while Goodridge made 61 and Simmons, more known for his fast bowling, hit 51 in Combermere’s imposing total of 269-7 in their quarter-final at Waterford A. In reply, St Leonard’s made 102.

Milo Lodge, boosted by Barbados Under-19 wicketkeeper/batsman Rivaldo Clarke and his former St Leonard’s Boys’ schoolmate, Tremaine Dowrich, comfortably defeated former champions, Christ Church Foundation by six wickets at Church Hill.

Wicketkeeper/batsman Shamar Forde scored a polished 78 for Foundation but left-handed opener Hakeem Perryman led a strong Lodge reply with 52.

Last year’s losing finalists Alleyne School, and Queen’s College also booked places in semi-finals with easy wins over Alexandra and Coleridge & Parry, respectively.

The stylish Hans Campbell steered Alleyne to victory with a run-a-ball unbeaten half-century after Shaqkere Parris had hammered 86 off 112 balls for Alexandra.
