ALL THE EXPLANATION by Cahill referred to in the last Saturday SUN on Page 4, makes for interesting reading.
This is especially since we Bajans are still in the very dark about how the monetary figure has moved up in such a short time to $700 million, and who specifically will soon be partaking of this windfall of Bajan taxpayers’ dollars.
Note also that the commencement date of construction still remains as September. So far our Prime Minister has not forcefully spoken out on this matter and we are still to know if as head of the Town and Country Planning Department he has given his approval; and what has become of the feasibility and environmental impact studies and by whom were they conducted, if at all.
We the general public are asking that this project be stopped for the Cahill directors to let us Bajans know about the agreements . . . .
The leading international experts, professional engineers, environmental scientists and the others have nothing to do with the exorbitant figures arrived at as stated by our Minister of Finance, and this comes to some minds as an afterthought which, simply put, cannot be tolerated or accepted.
I am quite sure that the Cahill administration and some of our Government ministers can put their collective heads together and come up with a more plausible explanation for this expensive project.
Be reminded that this project is located just above the Sandy Lane five-star hotel and the other attractive tourist destinations, not to mention some of the world class golf real estate. I am sure the minister of tourism can weigh in on this and also let us hear his input.
