BARBADOS HAS FORMALLY established ties with Panama.

Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley and Vice Mayor of Panama City, Raisa Banfield, signed an agreement yesterday evening during the activities in Heroes Square for the First Citizens City Fest  And Ceremonial Delivery Of The Last Canes.

At the end of the signing Lashley presented Banfield with the keys to Bridgetown. The Panamanians will return the favour when a local contingent visits the country next month.

During brief remarks Banfield said the trip to Barbados for the presentation was much more than that, and thanked the local authorities for bringing her “home”.

Banfield said her great grandfather was one of the Barbadians who helped to build the Panama Canal. (YB)
