THE SECOND MATCH in the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 cricket competition was abandoned after the rain intervened today at Beausejour Stadium, St Lucia.

St Lucia Zouks posted a very competitive 179 for six against Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel, the highest score in the CPL at that venue.

But just five balls into Red Steel’s chase, the rain came. They were 10-0 after opener Jacques Kallis thumped a four off the third delivery and a six off the next.

The covers eventually came off and play was scheduled to resume just before 8 p.m. local time, but the match was abandoned and both sides received a point.

Summarised scores:

St Lucia Zouks 179-6 in 20 overs (Andre Fletcher 57, Kevin Pietersen 42, Henry Davids 27, Kyle Mayers 19, Johnson Charles 16, Darren Sammy 15; Jacques Kallis 2-31). Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel 10-0 in 0.5 overs (Jacques Kallis 10-0). Match abandoned. (SAT)
