ST JAMES SOUTH Member of Parliament Donville Inniss says decisions have to be made about the future of several state entities.
Speaking in the House of Assembly yesterday during debate on the 2015 Financial Statement And Budgetary Proposals, he said there were some goods and services that the state needed to continue to provide and some it should exit and allow the private sector to run.
“Either sell them, privatise them or find other ways to make an arrangement . . . . We can’t keep taking money out of the economy to shore up and prop up a large Government system. The state-owned enterprises . . . need to be reviewed, merged, to be closed down, downsized. That is what we have to do. We cannot continue to say give us more,” he said.
