Bajans too late

IT WASN’T the start they hoped for.

Not to the tournament or the game.

Barbados almost staged a comeback for the ages – erasing all but one of an 18-point deficit – but just couldn’t recover from a poor first quarter performance in yesterday’s opening 70-63 defeat to St Vincent at the Caribbean Basketball Confederation Championships in Road Town.

It was all too reminiscent of last year’s heartbreak against BVI, where the Bajans came all the way back from a 20-point third-quarter hole before ultimately settling for a gut-wrenching 81-77 loss.
