ESAF PICKWICK survived four wasted wickets to defeat Lee’s Bistro Carlton by four wickets in the third quarter-final of the Sagicor General T20 Cricket Competition at Kensington Oval Friday night.
Set 142 to win, Pickwick replied with 145 for six.
Pickwick captain Kyle Hope hit a fluent 74 to rescue his team from nine for two. The performance secured his side a place in the semi-final and earned him the man-of-the match award following a thrilling finish with one ball to spare.
Requiring 11 off the last over, Hope clouted a full toss from off spinner Alex Bridgeman well beyond the mid wicket boundary but was run out later in the over with three still required.
Rommel Small kept his composure to end the match with a straight four to spark celebrations in the Pickwick camp.
Jared Gilkes helped Hope in the rescue act as he stroked a breezy 44.
Earlier, Carlo Morris top scored for Carlton with an unbeaten 57. Opener Lee Germon Gaskin was run out off the last ball for 48 as Carlton posted a competitive 141 for three.
Tonight, Maple will play CounterPoint Wanderers in the last quarter-final match.
