AN ORGANIC WASTE TO ENERGY PLANT is on the cards for the island as the owners/operators promise there will be very little scent to residents downwind of the Vaucluse, St Thomas facility.
And, said president of Ridley Energy Group Inc., Canadian David Ridley, there will be minimal dust from the operation in an area that already has a sanitary landfill, SBRC (Sustainable Barbados Recycling Centre), the proposed relocation site for B’s Recycling, and a quarry.
“It took us a while to get throughout the island to find where we have to locate because you always want to try to locate with the least disturbance to any of your inhabitants, people living close by. That is why we selected this area because it is an industrial area; it’s already got the landfill; it’s already got a quarry; it’s got the recyclers; it’s a great spot to go,” he said. Ridley further promised there would be little inconvenience to residents downwind of the facility.
