ROSEAU – Insisting that he doesn’t miss the presence of Shivnarine Chanderpaul, West Indies captain Denesh Ramdin is pleading with fans to be patient with the young team which lost the first Test match against Australia at the Windsor Park Stadium yesterday.
Ramdin was clearly sombre after the nine-wicket defeat and has called on all Jamaicans to come out and support his side, who now travel to Kingston, Jamaica, for the second and final Test match next week.
“We have moved on (from Chanderpaul). We have passed that. We have young (Shane) Dowrich who batted well and he showed a lot of maturity but we didn’t have a lot of other support.
“Marlon (Samuels) was batting well and got out at a crucial stage. Perhaps if he (Samuels) and Dowrich went on we could’ve carried the match into the fourth or even fifth day,” said Ramdin.
