A PROMINENT HOTELIER has called on Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) to address the Sargassum seaweed problem on a national level because it poses a threat to the tourism industry.
Gordon Seale, the owner of two hotels, Bougainvillea and Sugar Bay (formerly Amaryllis) on the South Coast, raised the issue at the annual general meeting of the BHTA on Wednesday at Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
He said that Sargassum was a problem not only being confronted by local hoteliers but by hotels throughout the Caribbean. He suggested that the BHTA should treat it as a national matter.
