AFTER FOUR YEARS, Leah Marville has relinquished the Miss Barbados World franchise.
However, this does not affect the reign of current Miss Barbados World Zoe Trotman (below).
In a release today, Marville, a former Miss Barbados World, and vice president Tashida Cox said every year was a struggle to stage the pageant, which is heavily dependent on sponsorship.
“We are proud of the transformations that the franchise underwent and the value which we have brought to the brand, but we believe we have taken it as far as we can with the resources that we collectively have.
“We think that there is greater hope for the Franchise if we make way for someone with fresh ideas, fresh passion with an equal amount [of] credibility to assume the position”.
During Marville’s tenure as franchise holder, four queens were sent to the Miss World Pageant. She noted her own tenure as Miss Barbados World was a “life changing one and one which allowed her to build her career and bring significant attention to Barbados”.
She thanked Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy as well as the former Barbados Tourism Authority and Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. for support over the years.
Miss World Ltd will determine who will be the next franchise holder. (PR/SAT)
