Back-to-back spills halt racing

THREE SPILLS in back to back races yesterday at the Garrison Savannah brought a premature end to the Barbados Turf Club’s second day of its second season – Barbados Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes Raceday.

What started off as a good afternoon on a firm track would later see two downpours, with the heavier one occurring during the running of the fourth race, the Perfect Bird Handicap, around 2:45 p.m.

Immediately following that race jockey Nyron Austin fell off his mount Lady Nak going into the paddock bend, and champion jockey Anderson Trotman, aboard Just Dreaming, also became unseated.
