OPERATIONS moved at snail’s pace at the Customs and Excise Department yesterday as Customs officers staged a work-to-rule.
It was the first show of protest against their pending transfer to the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA).
The Bridgetown Port was reportedly the hardest hit as vehicles leaving were backed up for hours, causing congestion and delays for cruise ship visitors.
“We are exercising our right to do a thorough and careful execution of our duties,” one officer told the DAILY NATION.
