MORE AND MORE disabled children in Barbados are experimenting with sex.

And with 11 000 Barbadians considered persons with diabilities (PWD), the Barbados Council for the Disabled is now seeking to increase public education and awareness on the subject.

Administrative project officer for the council, Roseanne Foster-Vaughan, made this revelation during a panel discussion on the sexuality of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities.

It was hosted recently by the AC Graham Development Centre at the Donald Henry Auditorium of Bethel Methodist Church, as part of its Child Month focus.

“Our children with disabilities are having sex, whether it be consensual, abusive or experimental,” Foster-Vaughan told those in attendance, while admitting that some parents, especially those of children with disabilities, did not want to believe the facts.
