Haulers look set to dig in

AFTER FOUR DAYS of greatly reduced waste collection by private haulers, they appear set to rough it out for the long haul. 

At the José y José Liquid and Solid Waste Management Inc. Warren’s, St Michael outlet, a tent has been set up, chemical toilet installed and drinks and snacks made available for the truckers as the waiting game continues.

Interim chairman of the Waste Haulers Association and general manager of José y José, Anderson Cherry, said yesterday that all of the waste haulers had downed tools while awaiting a Government response. If none is received, he said, the action would be stepped up today, the effects of which could be crippling for the island.
