Free after 16 years

AFTER BEING INFORMED twice to prepare to die and then been banished from society, Jeffrey Joseph, 40, has a new lease on life.

Convicted of murder in the April 1999 beating death of Marquelle Hippolyte at Weston, St James, Joseph yesterday walked out of prison 16 years and a month after he was first arrested.

In a case that had several twists and turns and put authorities in a legal bind, Joseph’s name, along with that of Lennox Boyce, has become part of legal history and has been cited in almost every local murder appeal for more than a decade.
