Referred Insurance Brokers Pinelands, all confidence and aggression, comfortably took Game 1 from Combined Schools Lady Tridents in the two best of three No.1 Beauty Supply and Exchange Women’s League basketball finals Tuesday night at the Wildey Gymnasium.
Size and experience made the difference.
Pinelands, spearheaded by national players Maria Cumberbatch and Tamisha Flatts and backed up by Latifa Wood and Antonia Baptiste, out hustled and outmuscled their youthful opponents throughout the match, with a 10-point win, a fair reflection of their dominance.
Flatts, the captain, and the 36-year-old Cumberbatch, played all 40 minutes of game time. (MK)
