JOSH BURKE is making a move.

Barbados’ young surfing talent has jumped up the world rankings, leaping 142 spots to land at 157th on the men’s ladder after picking up an encouraging 17th place at the just-concluded Martinique Surf Pro.

It was part of the inaugural World Surf League’s World Qualifying Series that saw 112 world class competitors exposed to huge swells generated by systems in the Atlantic Ocean.

Burke, who is still competing as a junior in the men’s division, gained a valuable 600 points towards his campaign to make it into the prime events and qualify for the Men’s World Championship Tour. (JM/PR)
