THE NUMBER OF examination centres was reduced by one, and students from two primary schools had to change centres within the last two weeks, but from all reports the 2015 Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) went off smoothly.
Students and their parents, some of whom appeared to be more anxious and nervous than their charges, started reporting to the 21 centres across the island from just after 7 a.m. for the exam that will determine which secondary schools they will attend from September.
Acting chief education officer, Karen Best, toured five centres, including The Lester Vaughan School and St Leonard’s Boys, where students from St Matthew’s Primary and Lawrence T Gay Memorial were reassigned, respectively.
Children from both schools would normally have written the exam at the temporarily closed Combermere School.
