THE BARBADOS Water Authority (BWA) today launched another phase in the multimillion dollar upgrade of the island’s water system, with Minister of Agriculture Dr David Estwick reporting steady progress overall.

This phase involves the replacement of about 33 kilometres of water mains ranging in age from 40 years to 159 years. So far, some 16.4 kilometres of mains have been replaced.

During a ground-breaking ceremony at Mount Pleasant Plantation in St Philip, Estwick also pointed out that the BWA was pushing ahead with programmes to provide more pipe-borne water to businesses and households. (TY)
