Home for badminton high on wish list

COMING FROM AN eight-time national badminton singles champion, many would agree that he can have an opinion on the direction he wants the sport to take.

So first on Andre Padmore’s wish list is for badminton to have its own home.

He spoke to SUNSPORT on the subject after he had beaten arch-rival Bradley Pilgrim in the men’s singles final of the national championships at the Wildey Gymnasium last Thursday night.

When asked what he thought would be needed to take badminton to the next level, he replied: “I think we need our own home. We use the Gym a lot and play at Community College but sometimes when those venues are not available for whatever reason it is difficult to train consistently for higher level tournaments.”
