To the family of the late Mr. Elon Benoni “Ben” Browne,
I hope this message finds you surrounded by love and comfort during this difficult time. Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. Elon Benoni “Ben” Browne, and allow me to share how profoundly he influenced the course of my life—and the lives of countless Combermerians.
As a young student at Combermere School, I lacked the maturity to truly grasp the depth of Mr. Browne’s impact. He taught with quiet confidence, a generous spirit, and a passion for mathematics that was genuinely contagious—even if I didn’t fully appreciate it at the time. His classroom was more than a place of instruction; it was a space where curiosity was nurtured and discipline instilled.
Looking back, I now realise that it was Mr. Browne’s belief in my potential that first planted the seeds for my pursuit of a first degree in Applied Mathematics. His dedication opened doors I hadn’t even known existed, and I owe much of my academic journey to his patience, guidance and influence.
Though I never had the opportunity to personally thank him, I hope you will accept this message as a small tribute to his enduring legacy. He made a difference—quietly, humbly, and profoundly. I carry his lessons with me still.
With sincere gratitude and deepest sympathy,
Alicia
