THE PUBLIC CONTINUES to show great interest in the conditions of the island’s coast lines.Director of the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU), Dr Leo Brewster said they continued to register large crowds of people for their monthly coastal walks, a fact with which he was pleased. He was speaking during the latest walk, for which about about 160 people assembled, and was from Ragged Point, St Philip to Harrismith.“Once a month we try to educate the public about the environment, especially our rapidly changing coastlines, which they may not be able to experience in the next ten to fifteen years,” he said.Brewster said the walks, which are held in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, have been ongoing for the past three years. Participants meet at the CZMU, Bay Street, St Michael and are taken to the sites by Transport Board buses and returned. (CA)
