BARBADOS SQUASH ASSOCIATION president Craig Archer avoided becoming the latest casualty in the Barbados Open on Tuesday. The third-seeded player easily beat Michael Best in straight games, 11-6, 11-3, 11-7, to book his place in tonight’s Men’s “B” quarter-finals after Tuesday night’s play at the Barbados Squash Club in Marine Gardens.Top-ranked Stuart Tippleston also secured safe passage to the round of eight after the self-employed English photographer comfortably dispatched Bradley Glasgow 11-3, 11-9, 11-3.There were also easy wins for seeded players Andrew Nunes, Ricky Edwards, Cliff Nolan, and Curtis Gittens. But there was no such favourable fortune for Dave Joseph, who got upended by the unseeded Oliver Gale after twice coming from behind to level the match. However, Joseph eventually fell in five games, 9-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-4, 7-11, after Gale held on after opening up a slim 3-1 lead in the decisive last game.
