The main stadium for the Commonwealth Games in India in October was finally opened yesterday following several delays to complete its remodelling.Indian Sports Minister M.S. Gill and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikhsit performed the inauguration ceremony at the 60 0000-capacity Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The organisers missed numerous deadlines to complete the stadium, mainly due to the construction of a 150-metre tunnel that connects both ends of the stadium and which will be used by artistes performing at the opening and closing ceremonies. The Commonwealth Games will take place from October 3 to 14.
