Colin Spencer’s name turned up frequently as some pundits recently made their predictions about the outcome of tonight’s big showdown at the Banks/Lime Pic-O-De-Crop finals at Kensington Oval.Ever since last week’s announcement of the nine to do battle against defending Calypso Monarch and nine-time champion Red Plastic Bag (RPB), excitement has been mounting and many people have been weighing in with their picks. An apparent leak indicating that De Digicel Big Show’s Anthony Gabby Carter – who already has eight titles to his name – was in the lead with Carolyn Tassa Forde of Cave Shepherd All Stars in second has undoubtedly created an element of mystery as to who else is up there in the top spots. The contents of a reported leak at the semi-final stage last year seemed to be on point and, interestingly, a WEEKEND NATION poll of some of the people who have been involved in Crop-Over at different levels for a number of years also has Gabby among the front-runners.Others featuring prominently in the predictions of the seven polled are RPB, John King and Blood. Mention was also made of Carolyn Tassa Forde and Adrian AC Clarke. The other finalists are Crystal Cummins-Beckles, Terencia TC Coward and Sheldon Hope.
