Govt safety pledge to foreign nationals

ROSEAU, Dominica – The Dominica government says it is condemning “any form of hostility, insults, disrespect and aggression” shown towards foreign nationals following an altercation between a Chinese national and a local citizen last week.Police have charged the unnamed Chinese national, who is employed with the China-funded West Coast road project, with battery, while the Dominican, whose name has also not been given, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm. They are due to appear in court soon.Acting Prime Minister Reginald Austrie told a news conference that the Roosevelt Skerrit administration is condemning any acts of aggression “by Dominicans towards our foreign friends and visitors and others working with us and supporting us in realising the future development of our country”.
