Stirring performance

Emotions ran high, and prayers flowed at the George Street Auditorium on Friday night, as the Democratic Labour Party’s 55th annual general conference opened by remembering its “missing” general. The conference marks the first time in 32 years that Prime Minister David Thompson won’t be in attendance. Thompson is overseas receiving medical treatment. But party faithful made sure he was there in spirit, as a slide show depicting his childhood to his rise as Prime Minister left the audience in a trance.Singer Carol George and members of Dansé National Afrique then caused emotions to run even higher, with a performance of the song These Dreams.
